Eye Shadow & Eye Shape
We have talked deep, wide, close and forward set eyes. Now let's put it all together.
We all want to look our best. I think that is a pretty universal desire. However we all have very different ideas about what that looks like, how much time we have to focus on looking our best and our means to achieve it. This is one of the reasons why the technical aspects of makeup artistry are so fascinating to me. Once you understand them, there is so much you can do to change and balance the face. And it isn’t a time consuming task, it doesn’t require specialized equipment or a lot of money. It is just about observing, placing and paying attention.
In previous posts I have talked about how to balance the face and eyes horizontally with eyeshadow placement depending upon whether your eyes are close-set or wide-set. I have also posted about how to balance the face and eyes vertically with shadow placement based on whether your eyes are deep-set or forward-set.
Now let’s put them all together for a complete guide to customizing your eyeshadow based on your eye shape!!
1. Close-Set/Deep-Set
If the eye is close-set we know that a lighter or shimmer color will go on the inner corner and a deeper on the outer. With a deep-set eye we know that the lid needs to come forward and the brow space pushed back. Here is a diagram for a basic two eyeshadow combo that combines these techniques. I call it a “Basic 1-2”.
