The Problem with Face Shape Guides

Most face shape information online is not correct. You see squares being called ovals, ovals seen as round, on and on. Angelina Jolie is not round, okay? Some guides have so many options for face shape that it is mind boggling. Are you a pear with a diamond chin? Maybe you are an inverted square?? What??!!!! There are too many options and too little verifiable information. For this series we are going to keep it simple, technical and accurate. Cool?

Oval, Round, Square, Oblong, Heart and Diamond are the face shapes worth considering. Will every face fit perfectly into one of these? Maybe not, but all faces will lean towards one more than any others. Whatever you lean to the most is your shape. We will go through each shape, what the features are of each, how to create balance and how to contour and highlight.

But first, let’s talk about why it is so confusing….
